Frequently Asked Questions
GETTING STARTED
How do I get started with daycare?
It all begins with an assessment day. This lets us get to know your dog’s personality so we can match them with the perfect group of friends. It’s a drop-and-go day – you don’t need to stay. Just give us a call on 0433 399 436 or book online to arrange it.
Do I need to stay for the assessment day?
Not at all – it’s a drop-and-go day. In fact, most dogs settle in much faster without their human nearby. You’ll drop your pup off, share a few helpful details about them, and head off to enjoy your day while we get to know your new best mate.
Is there a welcome offer for new dogs?
Yes! New dogs enjoy their first day for just $32 (normally $64). It’s the perfect way to see how much your pup loves it here.
How do I know if my dog is ready for daycare?
Most dogs are more social than their owners realise! If your pup enjoys the company of other dogs, has energy to burn, or gets lonely when home alone, daycare could be perfect for them. And if they’re a little shy, that’s okay too – many nervous dogs blossom with gentle introductions. Read more on our blog: “Is My Dog Ready for Daycare?”
OUR SERVICES
What services do you offer?
We offer doggie daycare, professional grooming and spa treatments, and a group dog walking service. Whatever your pup needs – a day of play, a pamper, or a good leg-stretch – we’ve got them covered.
What grooming services do you offer?
Our grooming and spa services include full grooms, deshedding, washes, nail clips and tidy-ups. A full groom starts from $110 and includes a wash, blow-dry, nail clip, tidy-up and plenty of cuddles. Book online or call us 0433 399 436 to chat through your options.
How often should I groom my dog?
It depends on their coat! Curly and silky coats usually need a groom every 4-6 weeks, double coats every 6-8 weeks, and short coats every 8-12 weeks. Our team is always happy to recommend a schedule that suits your dog. Read more on our blog: “How Often Should You Groom Your Dog?”
What is deshedding and does my dog need it?
Deshedding is a treatment that gently removes the loose, dead undercoat that ordinary brushing misses – keeping your dog comfortable and your home tidier. It’s especially helpful for double-coated breeds like Retrievers, Collies and Huskies. Read more on our blog: “Deshedding: What It Is, Who Needs It, and How Often”
Do you offer dog walking?
We do! Our dog walking is a group walk of up to four dogs, lasting 60–90 minutes and including pick-up and drop-off, all for $45. It’s a wonderful way for sociable dogs to explore, sniff and stretch their legs with friends.
How does the first dog walk work?
Your dog’s first walk is a solo assessment walk. This lets us understand how your dog behaves both on lead and off lead at a dog park, so we can make sure they’re comfortable and well-suited to a group walk. Once we know them a little better, they can join the group and enjoy walks with their new mates.
Can I celebrate my dog’s birthday at Unleashed?
We’d love to! If you’d like to mark your dog’s big day with a party at daycare, just book online or ask us – we’re always up for cake, zoomies and making a fuss of the birthday pup. Read more on our blog: “Dog Birthday Party Ideas”
DAYCARE DAY-TO-DAY
What are your opening hours?
We’re open Monday to Thursday, 7:30am – 6:30pm, and Friday, 7:30am – 6:00pm.
When can I drop off and pick up my dog?
Daycare check-in is between 7:30am and 9:30am, and check-out is between 4:00pm and 6:30pm. This helps keep the day settled and structured for all our pups.
How do you group the dogs?
We group dogs thoughtfully by age, temperament and energy level – and by size where it helps. A bouncy young pup and a gentle senior want very different days, so matching them well means everyone has the best time. A member of our team is always with each group. Read more on our blog: “How We Group Dogs at Unleashed”
Are the dogs supervised all day?
Always. A human stays right alongside every group throughout the day, encouraging good play, reading body language and stepping in the moment anyone needs a hand. It’s supervision with genuine care.
Do you cater to all sizes and ages?
We do – dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages are welcome, from playful puppies to dignified seniors. We even have a dedicated Puppy Creche to help young pups socialise safely from day one.
HEALTH & SAFETY
What vaccinations does my dog need?
Dogs need to be up to date with their vaccinations – this includes Kennel Cough and C3 or C5, which covers the main contagious diseases. We’ll ask to see proof before your dog’s first day, so please have your vaccination certificate handy. Ideally, load the certificate up to your dog’s profile online before your first day. Your vet is always the best person to confirm exactly what your dog needs. Read more on our blog: “What Vaccinations Does My Dog Need for Daycare?”
My dog gets anxious when I leave – can daycare help?
For many dogs, yes. Daycare replaces those long, lonely hours at home with company, play and gentle stimulation, which can help anxious pups feel calmer and more settled. We take introductions slowly and gently to help nervous dogs feel safe. Read more on our blog: “Separation Anxiety in Dogs”
BOOKING & CANCELLATIONS
How do I book?
You can book online at unleasheddoggiedaycare.com.au or give us a call on 0433 399 436. We’re always happy to help.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel a booking. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice incur a 100% fee, as your dog’s spot – whether for daycare, grooming or walking – has been reserved just for them. We’re a busy centre with a waitlist, so earlier notice gives another pup a chance to take the spot. Thank you for understanding!
